Paul’s Story
God works in mysterious ways, and DFD is a true testament to that. What started as a casual remark that men need support too has evolved into something much more profound, what we now call DFD, Don’t Forget The Dudes!
While I have been blessed with an incredible life, a loving wife, and two beautiful boys, my journey has not been free of pain or heartbreak.
I have faced challenges as I underwent heart surgery, a subsequent pacemaker implant and seeing God’s miracles to life’s hardest moments. I have been humbled with an outpouring of support during these moments, but I recognize that not everyone is as fortunate.
In an ongoing effort to give back for all the blessings in my life, I began reaching out to men facing their own challenges. As I heard about their struggles, I began writing personal notes and offering encouraging words or small gifts to remind them they weren’t alone and that brighter days were ahead.
Witnessing the impact of these seemingly small gestures inspired me to do even more. When I met Michelle, unaware that she was the mother of one of the men I had been in touch with, it became clear that God had intertwined our stories for a reason. It was time to put more intention into DFD.
While struggles in life are inevitable, with the right support network, they can become powerful opportunities for growth. I founded Don’t Forget The Dudes to offer hope to the hopeless, support to those feeling isolated, and the opportunity to transform weakness into strength. The immediate impact we can have is exciting—sometimes, all it takes is the simple acknowledgment that you are seen, you are heard, and you matter.
In addition to DFD, I have served on the Board of several organizations, including the Nashville Area American Heart Association, the Monroe Carell Junior Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, Cul2vate, Spike’s K9 and others.
